(IT) Systems Engineer - DOORS

Location: Canberra, Australian Capital Territory   

POSITION SUMMARY As a Systems Engineer, reporting functionally to the Systems Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the System Analysis, Development, and Testing of Requirements for development, integration, production and other types of projects. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES The Primary Responsibilities of the System Engineer; Requirement Analysis, at the customer and product level, for projects during the BID and system concept definition phase. Assist with the definition of system architectures applicable for a project. Requirement development/evolution, allocation and traceability. Verification and validation of requirements. Development of System Test Procedures for projects. Identify technical and management risks associated with system design and their management. Management of the DOORS Requirements Database. Apply systems engineering in accordance with the UWS processes across all projects. Other responsibilities of the Systems Engineer include: Provide guidance to subordinate staff on systems engineering processes. Provide input on System Engineering Process improvements. Provide administration support for the DOORS and T-REK systems engineering tool-set. Provide metrics and reports on requirement progress/status for projects. Assist preparation and review project Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) documents. Support Configuration Management in establishing formal baselines and validating these during configuration audits. Support process improvement initiatives (eg CMMI). QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES A Minimum of 2 Years experience with a Degree in Electrical, Computer, Mechanical Engineering or a relevant science degree. A good understanding and experience of the Systems Engineering Design process and with Systems Engineering training. Experience with requirement management software, desirably DOORS, T-REK and UML-2. Previous experience of working on defence contracts and dealing with defence personnel. A working knowledge of general sonar operations is desirable. Must be a good team player with good proven written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to work to tight deadlines. Must be customer focused and be able to work with minimal supervision. Computer literacy using the Microsoft Office suite. Have or be eligible to obtain Australian Defence Industry Security Clearance. Knowledge of or experience with CMMI, 6 Sigma or other process improvement frameworks is desirable.
