(IT) Applications Engineer (SQL Database Administrator) 3-6 Contract

Rate: $60-$70/Hour   Location: Sydney, New South Wales   

To provide technical, service and operational support for the firm’s Web Server, database and application infrastructure across the production, test and development environments. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Support of all aspects of the Infrastructure Applications technology environment which includes Microsoft SQL, Microsoft IIS environments Support of all aspects of applications hosted within the Infrastructure Applications environment Ensure that security standards are adhered to as outlined by local and global policies Install and configure Microsoft SQL for optimum performance and stability Monitor and maintain database integrity, performance and security Ensure Change Management practices and processes are followed Gather and analyse data, define and articulate problems and issues then offer appropriate solutions Respond to support calls entered into the Help Desk database queue Enter calls taken directly from clients into the Help Desk database Ensure business continuity is in place during application upgrades or maintenance Manage specific projects as allocated by the Applications Manager ensuring completion within specified time frame Participate in any Application team project, helping to ensure completion within specified time frame Ensure concise and complete documentation is prepared for all or any portion of a team project or day to day tasks COMPETENCIES: Demonstrated experience in managing applications and databases in an enterprise computing environment 3+ years of relevant application support and management experience, including: Microsoft SQL 2000 and 2005 Microsoft IIS Strong understanding of both application and database level security in Client Server and Web architecture Strong knowledge of SQL Server and IIS installation and configuration procedures Strong knowledge of backup management and replication techniques Strong knowledge of database monitoring and alerting techniques Strong knowledge of T-SQL Strong record in providing excellent support and service Excellent oral, written and organisational communication skills Positive team player, willing to share knowledge Enthusiastic and Energetic, proactive and positive Likes to be challenged and develop new skills What they offer: $60-$70/Hour For more information please contact Wayne Cottis on 02 9270 2663 quoting BF2005489.
