Position: Applications Engineer
Skills: Our client is a large and well recognised telecommunications and media group, with offices situated in the Sydney metropolitan area. We currently have an excellent opportunity for a mid to senior level Applications Engineer with specific experience working in applications programming and support roles, utilising Java, Perl & SQL, and ideally with knowledge and experience in Applications and Web Servers integration, such as BEA WebLogic and iPlanet. The role will involve day to day operations support of our clients environment, which includes complex applications interfaces and a network environment containing multiple VLANS, Firewalls and Subnet segments. This is not a networking role but an understanding of these environments would be great. You will require solid engineering skills including writing Shell Scripts, with responsibility for production applications which run on Unix (Solaris/Redhat), BEA WebLogic/iPlanet Servers and LDAP Directory services. You will manage systems upgrades, maintenance and administration of above systems and related applications, as well as assisting in implementation and testing for new systems and applications. This role will be the gate keeper for all releases, so a background in release and configuration management would be looked upon favourably. Experience and understanding of Web and Applications Servers, XML, STMP & LDAP would be ideal, but is mandatory for all applicants to have strong Java, Perl and SQL, and Unix based.
